Ingredients

Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter browned
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup bourbon
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Dry Ingredients
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Method

Prepare the Browned Butter
  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter until it starts to foam. Stir continuously until it turns a golden brown color and has a nutty aroma, about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
Mix Wet Ingredients
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the browned butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Whisk until smooth.
  2. Add the bourbon, egg, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
Combine Dry Ingredients
  1. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  2. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
Add Chocolate Chips
  1. Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
Bake the Cookies
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  3. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden but the centers are still soft.
  4. Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
